Lucknow, May 31, 2025 — In a significant development in Uttar Pradesh Police leadership, senior IPS officer Rajeev Krishna (1991 batch) has been appointed as the Acting Director General of Police (DGP) of Uttar Pradesh. This comes as Shri Prashant Kumar, the current acting DGP, retires today upon attaining the age of 60.

Rajeev Krishna, known for his integrity, strict discipline, and clean administration, was serving as the Chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board and Director, Vigilance. He made headlines earlier this year for successfully conducting a cheating-free police recruitment exam in the state — a move that won public trust and government praise.

With four years left until retirement, Krishna’s appointment is being seen as a strong step toward restoring long-term leadership in the police force. However, it is noteworthy that Uttar Pradesh has not had a permanent DGP for the last four years, raising questions about administrative continuity and decision-making at the top level.

As the new UP Acting DGP, Rajeev Krishna is expected to bring transparency, discipline, and strategic reforms to the police force. His elevation has sparked widespread public interest, especially among those following developments in law and order in Uttar Pradesh, UP Police recruitment, and IPS postings 2025.

Stay tuned for more updates on Uttar Pradesh Police leadership and the potential appointment of a full-time DGP in the coming months.
