The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, has launched the 1st NUJS National Disability Law Moot Court Competition, 2025, marking a significant milestone in India's legal education landscape. This national-level moot court competition is the first in the country to focus exclusively on disability rights and the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPWD Act).

Established in 1999, WBNUJS is one of India’s premier national law universities, known for its academic rigor, inclusivity, and contribution to progressive legal education. Over the years, it has hosted nationally recognized events such as the NUJS-HSF Moot, the NUJS ADR Mediation Competition, and Para-Invicta – India’s only sports fest for specially-abled law students.
About the Competition
The 2025 moot court competition is a groundbreaking platform for budding lawyers to engage in critical legal discourse around disability rights, access to justice, workplace discrimination, and constitutional protections for persons with disabilities. Participants will argue simulated court cases under the RPWD Act, 2016, and receive expert feedback from seasoned legal professionals.

Eligibility Criteria
- Open to all undergraduate law students enrolled in a 3-year or 5-year LLB program from any recognized Indian law school.
- No restriction on the number of teams per institution.
- Cross-institutional teams allowed.
- Teams must comprise 2 to 3 members.
- Postgraduate students are not eligible.
Registration & Fees
Memo Round:
- Standard Fee: ₹2,500 per team
- Discounted Fee: ₹2,100 (for teams with at least one PwD candidate)
Oral Round (for shortlisted teams):
- Fee: ₹2,000 per team
Accommodation (Optional):
- ₹5,500 per team (for August 21–24, 2025 stay)
