Punjab & Haryana High Court Announces 25 Vacancies for Additional District & Sessions Judges in 2025

Chandigarh, June 1, 2025 — The Punjab and Haryana High Court has released an official notification for the direct recruitment of 25 Additional District & Sessions Judges under the Haryana Superior Judicial Service (HSJS) for the year 2025. This recruitment aims to fill vacancies through a competitive examination, adhering to Rule 6(1)(c) of the Haryana Superior Judicial Service Rules, 2007.

Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Haryana: 3

Deprived Scheduled Castes (DSC), Haryana (Backlog): 2

Other Scheduled Castes (OSC), Haryana (Backlog): 1

Backward Class-A (BC-A), Haryana (Backlog): 4

Backward Class-B (BC-B), Haryana (Backlog): 2

Ex-servicemen (ESM), Haryana (Backlog): 2

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD), Haryana (Backlog): 2

Eligibility Criteria:

Citizenship: Must be a citizen of India.

Advocacy Experience: Minimum of seven years of practice as an Advocate.

Income Tax Assessment: Must be an income tax assessee for at least three assessment years preceding the date of application, with a gross professional income of not less than ₹5 lakhs per annum. 

Pay Scale: The position offers a pay scale in Pay Level J-5, with an initial start of ₹1,44,840/-, subject to revisions by the Haryana Government.

Important Notes:

- In case suitable candidates are not found in certain reserved categories, the vacancies may be de-reserved and filled from the general category as per Haryana Government instructions.

- Members of Judicial Service are not eligible to apply, in light of the Supreme Court judgment dated February 19, 2020, in S.L.P. (C) No.14156 of 2015 titled 'Dheeraj Mor Vs. Hon'ble High Court of Delhi'.
