NHRC Online Short Term Internship Programme 2026 Announced; Apply by January 11


The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), India has officially invited applications for its Paid Online Short Term Internship Programme – February 2026. The internship is aimed at providing students across the country with structured academic exposure to the human rights framework, constitutional values, and institutional functioning of NHRC.

The internship will be conducted in online mode and is scheduled to take place in February 2026. Selected candidates will receive a stipend of ₹2,000 along with a certificate of participation upon successful completion.


About the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)


The National Human Rights Commission of India is a statutory public body established on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. The Commission is entrusted with the responsibility of protecting and promoting human rights, defined as rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity of the individual guaranteed by the Constitution of India or embodied in international covenants and enforceable by courts in India.

NHRC plays a crucial role in human rights advocacy, policy recommendations, research, and awareness through training and internship programmes.


About the Internship Programme – February 2026


NHRC is offering an Online Short Term Internship Programme for eligible students from diverse academic backgrounds. The programme is designed to enhance understanding of human rights laws, institutional mechanisms, research methodologies, and policy perspectives.

The internship will include:

  • Online interactive sessions
  • Research-based assignments
  • Project work and presentations
  • Book review submissions


Eligibility Criteria


Applications are invited from students across India who fall under the following categories:

  • Students studying in 3rd year or above of a 5-year integrated postgraduate course
  • Students studying in 3rd year or final year of a graduation course
  • Students enrolled in any semester/year of a postgraduate degree course
  • Students pursuing postgraduate diploma courses
  • Research scholars in any discipline

Academic Requirement

Applicants must have consistently secured a minimum of 60% marks in:

  • Class XII, and
  • All subsequent academic courses, including the course currently being pursued

Candidates must clearly mention the percentage calculation formula if grades are converted from CGPA/SGPA. Failure to do so will lead to rejection.

Age Limit

  • Candidates must not be more than 28 years of age as on 1 January 2026


Duration & Schedule


  • Internship Duration: 2 Weeks
  • Internship Dates: 2 February 2026 to 13 February 2026
  • Working Hours: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM
  • Working Days: Monday to Friday


Mode & Type of Internship


  • Mode: Online
  • Type: Full-time internship

Selected candidates must ensure complete availability during the internship period, as attendance and participation are mandatory.


Stipend & Certification


  • Stipend: ₹2,000 (Rupees Two Thousand only)
  • Certificate: Certificate of Participation will be awarded subject to:
    • Regular attendance and punctuality
    • Active participation in online sessions
    • Timely submission of project report and book review
    • Successful project presentation

  • Last Date to Apply: 11 January 2026 (till 6:00 PM)

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.


Documents Required


Applicants must upload the following documents while applying online:

  1. Statement of Purpose (SoP):
    A 250-word write-up titled
    “Statement of Purpose for Joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship Programme”

  2. Academic Mark Sheets:
    Self-attested scanned copies of mark sheets from Class XII onwards, including all semesters/years of the current course.

  3. Recommendation Letter:
    A scanned recommendation letter or email issued by the Head of Department / Dean / Principal in the prescribed format.

Applications missing any of the above documents will be summarily rejected.
