Allahabad University UG Admissions 2026–27 to Be Conducted Through CUET-UG 2026; Registration Open Till January 30
The University of Allahabad, one of India’s oldest central universities, has officially announced the commencement of the undergraduate (UG) admission process for the Academic Session 2026–27. As per the latest notification, admissions to all undergraduate programmes will be conducted exclusively through the Common University Entrance Test (CUET-UG) 2026.
The CUET-UG based admission process will apply to all undergraduate courses offered by the University of Allahabad as well as its constituent colleges. No separate entrance examination will be conducted by the university for undergraduate admissions.
Admission Policy in Line with UGC and NEP 2020
University Registrar Prof. Ashish Khare stated that the decision has been taken in compliance with the guidelines issued by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the Ministry of Education, Government of India.
He further clarified that all undergraduate programmes at the University of Allahabad will be offered under the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUP) structure as mandated by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The FYUP framework aims to provide students with multidisciplinary learning, academic flexibility, and multiple exit options.
CUET-UG 2026 Registration Mandatory for Aspirants
Public Relations Officer Prof. Jaya Kapoor informed that students who have passed Class 12 or are appearing in the Class 12 examination in 2026 and wish to seek admission to undergraduate programmes at the University of Allahabad must compulsorily register for CUET-UG 2026.

- Last Date to Apply: 30 January 2026
- Last Date for Application Fee Payment: 31 January 2026
- Correction Window: 2 February 2026 to 4 February 2026
- Tentative Examination Dates: 11 May 2026 to 31 May 2026
- Mode of Examination: Computer-Based Test (CBT)

Examination Mode, Subjects, and Selection Criteria
CUET-UG 2026 will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode at designated examination centres across the country. Candidates may opt for a maximum of five subjects, which include:
- Language Subject: Hindi or English (mandatory for Allahabad University)
- General Test: Mandatory
- Domain-Specific Subjects: As per the chosen undergraduate programme
For admission to undergraduate courses at the University of Allahabad, candidates must appear for either Hindi or English as the language subject along with the General Test.
CUET-UG 2026 Question Paper Pattern
Each CUET-UG question paper will consist of:
- Total Questions: 50 compulsory questions
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Marking Scheme:
- +5 marks for every correct answer
- −1 mark for every incorrect answer (negative marking applicable)
The examination pattern is designed to assess the candidate’s subject knowledge, language proficiency, and general aptitude.
Merit Preparation and Admission Process
The University of Allahabad has clearly stated that merit lists will be prepared strictly on the basis of CUET-UG 2026 scores. The merit calculation will consider:
- Marks obtained in the Language Subject (Hindi/English)
- Marks obtained in the General Test
- Marks obtained in the relevant domain subjects
Following the declaration of CUET-UG results, admissions will be conducted through a centralized university-level counselling process. Seat allotment will be based on merit, availability of seats, and fulfillment of eligibility criteria.
