Competition Commission of India Invites Applications for Legal Internship; Stipend of ₹15,000 Per Month
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) has invited applications for its Legal Internship Programme, offering law students and LL.M. candidates an opportunity to gain practical exposure to competition law and the functioning of India's competition regulator. Selected interns will receive an honorarium of ₹15,000 per month and will have the opportunity to work under the guidance of officers of the Commission.
About the Competition Commission of India (CCI)
The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is a statutory body established under the Competition Act, 2002 to prevent practices having an appreciable adverse effect on competition, promote and sustain competition in markets, protect consumer interests, and ensure freedom of trade in India. The Commission was established on 14 October 2003 and plays a significant role in enforcing competition law across the country.
About the Internship
The CCI Legal Internship Programme is designed to provide students with practical exposure to competition law, regulatory functioning, legal research, and policy-making. Interns get an opportunity to work on matters relating to the Competition Act while interacting with officers of the Commission.
Eligibility
Applications are open to:
- Students in the 2nd and 3rd year of the 3-year LL.B. programme.
- Students in the 4th and final year of the 5-year integrated law programme (including those who have completed the 3rd year and are entering the 4th year).
- LL.M. students.
Additional Eligibility Conditions
- Applicants must be Indian Nationals.
- Candidates should be studying in a recognized university or institution with exposure to Competition Law.
- Students who already have a placement offer are not eligible to apply.
Duration
The internship is generally offered for one month, commencing from the first working day of the respective month.
Students interested in pursuing the internship for two or three calendar months may also apply, provided they submit a recommendation from their respective college or university for the requested duration.
Number of Seats
The Commission offers 15 internship seats every month.
Stipend
Selected interns will receive an honorarium of ₹15,000 per month.
Certificate
Interns who successfully complete the internship and receive a satisfactory evaluation from their assigned mentor will be awarded an electronic Internship Certificate by the Competition Commission of India.

Applicants should note that applications must ordinarily reach the Commission by the 1st day of the month preceding the intended internship month. For example, candidates seeking an internship in December should submit their applications by 1 November.
Application Procedure
Interested candidates must submit their applications in the prescribed format along with the required documents.
Applicants are required to:
- Complete the prescribed application form.
- Obtain a recommendation from the competent authority of their academic institution.
- Submit a Statement of Purpose (SOP) of approximately 200 words outlining the proposed area of study and objectives.
- Ensure that the application is complete in all respects.
