About the Job
The Ministry of External Affairs is inviting applications for one Consultant (Lawfare Issues) in its L&T-I Division.
The selected consultant will assist the Ministry in addressing complex issues relating to lawfare, international disputes, universal jurisdiction, and developments under international law, while supporting India's legal and diplomatic position before international forums.

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be an Indian national.
- Hold an LL.M. in International Law from a recognised institution in India or abroad.
- Be a registered legal practitioner in India.
- Have a minimum of two years' work experience.
- Be 25–35 years of age as on the last date for submission of applications.
Preferred Qualification
Preference will be given to candidates who:
- Have specialised in International Humanitarian Law or Criminal Law.
- Possess prior work experience with the Government of India.
Roles and Responsibilities
The selected Consultant will be responsible for:
- Providing legal inputs on lawfare issues, including universal jurisdiction principles and discussions before the International Law Commission.
- Collecting and analysing foreign domestic laws relating to universal jurisdiction.
- Mapping and monitoring lawfare cases initiated by foreign governments across different jurisdictions.
- Assisting the Ministry in handling international disputes involving universal jurisdiction.
- Preparing legal briefs, background papers, and policy notes.
- Analysing domestic legislation and international legal developments concerning lawfare.
- Coordinating with the Ministry of Home Affairs and other government agencies to ensure consistency in India's legal position.
- Drafting legal notes, talking points, and contributing to legal capacity-building initiatives.
Remuneration
The selected candidate will receive remuneration based on qualifications and experience, subject to a maximum of ₹10,00,000 per annum, with applicable tax deductions.
The appointment will be purely contractual and will not entitle the consultant to benefits available to regular government employees.

- One year, extendable based on performance, mutual consent, and the Ministry's requirements.
