Reason for Postponement
While the Commission has not provided a specific reason for the delay, sources suggest that the large number of candidates registered for the exam has led to logistical challenges in organizing the event. The scale of the exam, with a significant number of candidates, is believed to be a factor in the postponement. Additionally, stricter regulations regarding exam centers have reportedly made it difficult to ensure an adequate number of centers, thus delaying the exam.
The Exam and Candidate Registration
The TGT and PGT recruitment drive was first advertised in 2022, with applications closing in August 2022. The recruitment drive is aimed at filling a total of 4,163 teaching positions—3,539 for TGT and 624 for PGT. A total of 13.19 lakh candidates have registered for these exams, with 8.69 lakh applicants for the TGT posts and 4.5 lakh for the PGT posts.
Exam Dates for PGT Remain Unchanged
Although the TGT exam has been rescheduled, the PGT written examination will proceed as per the original schedule, which is set for June 18-19, 2025. Candidates for the PGT posts can expect the exam to be held on these dates without any changes.
Previous Postponements and Delays
The TGT recruitment exam has already faced multiple delays. Initially set for April 4-5, 2025, the exam was rescheduled to May 14-15, 2025, before being pushed again to the new July dates. As the examination approaches its third year since the initial advertisement, candidates have expressed growing frustration over the repeated delays.
Concerns Among Aspirants
The continuous postponements have led to rising discontent among candidates. Many have expressed their frustration over the lack of clear communication from the UPSESSB regarding the reasons for the delays. Arjun Prasad, a member of the Youth Forum, criticized the Commission’s inability to ensure timely execution of the recruitment process. He claimed that without a valid explanation for the delay, students are left feeling demotivated and uncertain about the future of their careers.
Looking Ahead: Expectations from the Commission
With the new exam dates now set, candidates are hopeful that there will be no further changes. However, many are eagerly awaiting clarity on the exam centers and other logistical aspects. The recruitment process has already taken a significant amount of time, and students are eager to see it concluded efficiently.
As the July exam date approaches, all eyes are on the UPSESSB to ensure a smooth and timely process. For now, candidates must remain patient as they prepare for the exam, hoping for a resolution to the delays and ensuring their readiness for the upcoming challenge.
