About PRS Legislative Research
Founded in September 2005 by C.V. Madhukar and M.R. Madhavan, PRS Legislative Research operates as a non-profit, non-partisan research institute headquartered in New Delhi. It was initially incubated at the Centre for Policy Research (CPR) and now functions as the Institute for Policy Research Studies, a Section 8 company.
The organization aims to strengthen the legislative process by making it better informed, more transparent, and participatory. It assists Members of Parliament (MPs) by providing them with concise and insightful analysis on legislative and policy issues.
Internship Overview: Offline Opportunity in Delhi
The internship is a physical, in-office program to be conducted in July 2025. PRS offers internship positions in both its research and outreach departments. Candidates can choose to work in either or both teams based on their interests.

Roles and Responsibilities
Each MP in India represents over two million people and is expected to legislate on numerous complex issues. PRS bridges the knowledge gap by offering in-depth research to assist MPs in:
- Legislative debates
- Policy evaluation
- Constituency development
Interns will:
- Support PRS analysts with legislative and policy research
- Undertake an internship project aligned with PRS's ongoing work
- Gain exposure to the parliamentary session proceedings and real-time legislative developments
During Parliamentary sessions, interns will work on live issues. In non-session periods, projects will be matched with the intern’s interests.
Eligibility & Expectations
Candidates must demonstrate:
- A keen interest in Indian legislative processes and public policy
- Strong analytical and writing skills
- Ability to work in a team and deliver structured research outputs
Stipend and Accommodation
Please note that this is an unpaid internship. PRS does not provide accommodation or any form of financial assistance.
