UP Government Appoints 12 New Additional Advocate Generals for Allahabad High Court and Lucknow Bench


Lucknow, June 3, 2025 — In a key administrative move aimed at strengthening the state’s legal machinery, the Uttar Pradesh Government has approved the appointment of 12 senior advocates as Additional Advocate Generals (AAGs) to represent the state before the Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow Bench.

According to the official communication issued by Lokesh Nagar, Special Secretary, Law and Justice Department, the appointments were made with the consent of the Hon’ble Governor of Uttar Pradesh, based on prior recommendations and service records of the selected legal practitioners.

The following seven advocates have been appointed as AAGs to appear before the principal seat of the High Court at Allahabad:

1. Shri Durga Vijay Singh

2. Shri Amit Chakradhar Pathak

3. Shri Anup Trivedi

4. Shri Mahendra Narayan Singh

5. Shri Rahul Awasthi

6. Shri Sanjeev Singh

7. Shri Kartikeya Saran

In addition, five advocates have been appointed as AAGs to appear before the Lucknow Bench:

1. Shri Anuj Kunduriya

2. Shri Sudeep Kumar Srivastava

3. Shri Pritam Kumar

4. Shrimati Jyotsna Patel

5. Shri Surya Mani Singh Rekwar

Each of these individuals is a registered advocate with considerable experience in litigation, and their inclusion is expected to enhance the quality and efficiency of the state’s legal representation in important judicial proceedings.

The decision marks a significant step by the Yogi Adityanath-led government toward reinforcing the state’s legal apparatus and ensuring effective representation in both civil and constitutional matters of public importance.
