ABVP-led DUSU Launches Fifth Edition of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Law Internship
The ABVP-led Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU), in collaboration with Adhivakta Parishad Delhi Prant, has officially launched the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Law Internship 5.0. The announcement was made during the orientation programme held in New Delhi on 29 June 2026, marking the commencement of the fifth edition of one of the largest law internship initiatives for students of the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.
The internship programme has been introduced to bridge the gap between classroom education and practical legal training by providing students with first-hand exposure to the functioning of courts and the legal profession.
Over 600 Law Students Selected from Nearly 1,000 Applications
The organisers received an overwhelming response from students, with a total of 964 applications submitted by students of the Faculty of Law, University of Delhi.
Following an interview process, more than 657 students were selected to participate in the internship programme.
The internship is scheduled to commence from 1 July 2026, during which selected students will intern under the guidance of experienced advocates and legal professionals.
Interns to Gain Exposure to Supreme Court, Delhi High Court and District Courts
Under the programme, interns will receive practical exposure by working with advocates appearing before:
- Supreme Court of India
- Delhi High Court
- Various District Courts across Delhi
The internship aims to provide participants with a practical understanding of judicial proceedings, litigation practices, legal drafting, advocacy techniques, and courtroom functioning.
Objective of the Internship Programme
The primary objective of the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Law Internship 5.0 is to strengthen the practical legal knowledge of law students and prepare them for professional legal practice.
Through this initiative, participants will:
- Understand the functioning of the Indian judicial system.
- Observe court proceedings firsthand.
- Learn legal drafting and advocacy skills.
- Interact with experienced advocates and legal practitioners.
- Develop practical insights beyond classroom learning.
DUSU Secretary Highlights Importance of Practical Legal Training
Speaking on the occasion, Kunal Chaudhary, Secretary of the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU), stated that the internship aims to equip students with practical legal knowledge while building a strong foundation for their future legal careers.
He emphasized that the programme would encourage young law students to contribute meaningfully to the justice delivery system and uphold constitutional values. He further noted that the initiative reflects ABVP's continued commitment towards academic excellence, professional development, and leadership building among students.
Adhivakta Parishad Calls Internship a Platform for Future Legal Leaders
Addressing the gathering, Sanjay Poddar, State President of Adhivakta Parishad Delhi Prant, described the internship as much more than a training programme.
He stated that the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Law Internship 5.0 provides law students with an opportunity to closely understand the judicial system while receiving mentorship from experienced advocates.
He further observed that Adhivakta Parishad has consistently worked towards mentoring young legal professionals by enhancing their practical skills and providing quality legal training. According to him, the internship will significantly contribute to the personality development, professional competence, and leadership abilities of participating students while helping produce capable legal professionals for the nation.
