Uttarakhand High Court Invites Applications for Law Researchers; Monthly Honorarium of ₹50,000
The High Court of Uttarakhand at Nainital has invited online applications for the engagement of Law Researchers on a contractual basis. Eligible law graduates and final-year law students can apply through the prescribed Google Form available on the official website of the High Court. Selected candidates will receive a fixed monthly honorarium of ₹50,000. The last date to submit applications is 3 August 2026.
About the Recruitment
The engagement of Law Researchers will be governed by the Scheme for Engagement of Law Researchers in the High Court of Uttarakhand. The appointments will be made purely on a contractual basis to assist Hon'ble Judges in legal research and judicial work.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Hold a Law degree from a recognised law school, college, university, or institute in India and be eligible for enrolment as an Advocate with the Bar Council of India.
- Final-year students pursuing a three-year or five-year LL.B. programme are also eligible, subject to producing proof of obtaining the degree before joining.
- Possess a good working knowledge of computers.
- Be Indian citizens.
- Be not more than 30 years of age as on the date of application. The age requirement may be relaxed in appropriate cases by Hon'ble the Chief Justice upon the request of the concerned Judge.
Disqualification
Candidates will not be eligible if they:
- Are engaged elsewhere on an honorarium or payment basis at the time of joining.
- Have been involved in a criminal case involving moral turpitude.
- Are facing disciplinary proceedings before the Bar Council of India, a State Bar Council, or any other authority.
Duration of Engagement
- The engagement is purely contractual and short-term.
- The initial tenure will be determined by the Hon'ble Judge concerned and may be extended up to three years, or until the Judge's retirement or cessation of office, whichever is earlier.
- In exceptional circumstances, the tenure may be extended up to four years, subject to satisfactory performance.
- The engagement does not confer any right to regular appointment and may be terminated prematurely.
Honorarium
Selected Law Researchers will receive a fixed monthly honorarium of ₹50,000. No additional allowances or other benefits will be provided.
Selection Process
Selection will be based on an assessment prescribed by the Hon'ble Judge concerned. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for assessment or interview, and the final selection will be made by the Judge to whom the Law Researcher is to be attached.
