UGC NET June 2025: Last Date to Apply Extended, Check New Deadline and Eligibility Criteria

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has extended the last date to submit the online application for UGC NET June 2025. Candidates who haven’t applied yet still have the opportunity to do so. Now, the last date to apply is May 12, 2025 (11:59 PM) and the last date to pay the application fee is May 13, 2025 (11:59 PM).

The correction window for editing the submitted application form will be open from May 14 to May 15, 2025 (11:59 PM).

Previously, the last date to apply was May 7, 2025. The application process had begun on April 16, 2025. The UGC NET June 2025 exam is likely to be conducted between June 21 and June 30, 2025.

Application Fee:

  • General category: ₹1150
  • EWS and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): ₹600
  • SC, ST, and PwD categories: ₹325

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. Educational Qualification:
    Candidates must have a Master’s degree or equivalent with at least 55% marks from a university/institution recognized by the UGC.
    For OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/PwD candidates, the minimum required marks are 50%.

  2. Four-Year Undergraduate Degree Holders:
    Candidates with a 4-year UG degree can also appear for the exam. They are allowed to appear in the subject they wish to pursue a Ph.D., irrespective of their UG specialization.

  3. Minimum Marks in 4-Year Degree:
    Candidates must have secured a minimum of 75% aggregate marks or an equivalent grade in their 4-year or 8-semester UG program.

  2. Click on the registration link on the homepage.
  3. Register by entering your personal and academic details.
  4. Fill out the application form and pay the applicable fee.
  5. Submit the form.
  6. Download the confirmation page and take a printout for future reference.

About UGC NET:

UGC NET determines the eligibility of Indian nationals for:
(i) Award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and eligibility for Assistant Professor
(ii) Eligibility for Assistant Professor only and admission to Ph.D. programs
(iii) Admission to Ph.D. programs

The exam will be conducted by NTA in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode across 85 subjects.
