ABVP protests against illegal fee collection and unauthorized Governing Body Chairman Pankaj Jaiswal; warns of agitation

ABVP Protests Against Illegal Fee Collection and Unauthorized Chairman at Arya Kanya Degree College

Prayagraj | November 6, 2025 — The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), Prayag Mahanagar, on Thursday held a strong protest at Arya Kanya Degree College, University of Allahabad, against what it termed as illegal fee collection and the continued functioning of an unauthorized Governing Body Chairman, Pankaj Jaiswal. The student organization has warned of an intensified agitation if immediate corrective action is not taken.

Illegal Fee Collection Sparks Student Outrage

According to ABVP members, the college administration has been charging ₹8,000 extra under the Five-Year Law Course and a compulsory ₹5,000 “donation” in the name of Maharshi Dayanand Sansthan. Despite repeated complaints and a memorandum submitted on October 30, no official action has been taken by the college authorities.

ABVP alleged that such additional charges are unjustified and exploitative, burdening students unnecessarily. The organization claimed that while other constituent colleges under the University of Allahabad charge ₹50,000 (including ₹5,000 as a security deposit) for first-year students and ₹45,000 from the second year onwards, Arya Kanya Degree College demands a total of ₹58,000, including the mandatory “donation”.

Violation of High Court Order Alleged Against Governing Body

ABVP has also accused the college’s Governing Council of operating illegally under Pankaj Jaiswal, despite a High Court order declaring his chairmanship unconstitutional and invalid. The Court had directed his immediate removal and barred him from any administrative role within the institution.

However, the ABVP claims that Jaiswal continues to intervene in college affairs, defying judicial directives. It was also highlighted that an FIR was lodged against Jaiswal in 2018 at the Muthiganj Police Station for alleged fraud and collusion.

ABVP Warns of Strong Agitation

Speaking to the media, ABVP Prayag Mahanagar Secretary Prateek Mishra stated,

“Despite repeated representations, the college administration has failed to act against the illegal fee collection and the unlawfully appointed Chairman, Pankaj Jaiswal. If a concrete decision is not taken by tomorrow, ABVP will be compelled to launch a strong agitation.”

ABVP members emphasized that their protest will continue until the administration rolls back the illegal fees and enforces the High Court’s order regarding college governance.

Student Leaders Present During the Protest

The protest witnessed the participation of ABVP Mahanagar Joint Secretary Abhinav Pandey, Aman Shukla, Rahul, Ambuj, and several other active karyakartas. The student group has submitted a renewed memorandum and urged the authorities to ensure compliance with the law and fairness in the fee structure.

The ABVP’s protest at Arya Kanya Degree College has once again drawn attention to issues of financial transparency, administrative accountability, and compliance with court orders in educational institutions. The coming days will determine whether the college administration responds positively or faces intensified agitation from the student community.
