In a significant administrative decision at CMP Degree College, Prayagraj, affiliated to the University of Allahabad, Prof. (Dr.) Shiv Shankar Singh has been granted an extension as the Head of the Department of Law. This extension reflects the institution’s confidence in his academic vision, administrative capability, and long-standing commitment to advancing legal education at the college. His earlier tenures (2019–21 and 2023–25) were widely acknowledged for outstanding growth in academic standards and overall departmental performance.


During these terms, Prof. Singh led several important initiatives aimed at strengthening both teaching and research. Under his leadership, the department saw improvements in curriculum delivery, enhanced engagement between teachers and students, increased research output, and a supportive academic environment that encouraged participation in competitions, workshops, and legal awareness activities.



Prof. (Dr.) Shiv Shankar Singh is a distinguished academician with a strong national reputation. He has authored multiple books in both Hindi and English, offering valuable contributions to legal scholarship. With more than 40 research papers published in respected national and international journals, his work spans a wide range of contemporary legal issues and emerging areas of academic interest. In recognition of his remarkable contribution to legal literature and promotion of Hindi in academia, he was recently honoured with the Rajbhasha Gaurav Puraskar 2024 by the Department of Official Language, Government of India. This award stands as a testament to his excellence in research, writing, and dedication to advancing linguistic diversity in legal studies.


Speaking on this occasion, Prof. Singh outlined an ambitious roadmap for the upcoming tenure. The department plans to organise national and international seminars, encourage cross-institutional academic collaborations, and host a National Moot Court Competition to strengthen advocacy training. Additionally, the department intends to launch legal awareness programmes in the community, initiate campus placement drives for students, and further promote academic writing and research through workshops. A notable initiative involves the adoption of a village, where the department aims to conduct regular legal literacy activities and promote access to justice. The department also aspires to begin the publication of its own academic law journal, which will serve as a platform for students and scholars to share quality research.

Students of B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Final Year, including Ayush Vishwakarma, Ujjwal Singh, Parth Mishra, Chandrashekhar Yadav, Abhishek Vishwakarma, and Abhinav Pandey along with many juniors from the department, attended the occasion. They welcomed Prof. Singh with bouquets, expressed gratitude for his constant support, and conveyed heartfelt greetings.
