About the Ministry of Women and Child Development

The Ministry of Women and Child Development is an apex body of the Government of India responsible for the formulation, administration, and implementation of laws, policies, and programmes concerning women and child development. The Ministry plays a key role in advancing gender equality, child welfare, and social justice at the national level.

About the Internship Programme

Under its Internship Programme, the Ministry invites applications from women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers associated with academic or non-academic institutions. The internship focuses on pilot projects and micro-studies related to the ongoing initiatives and programmes of the Ministry.

Interns will receive qualitative exposure to the Ministry’s mandate, participate in programme implementation and policy analysis, and develop the capacity to raise issues concerning women and children on various platforms in the future.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are invited from:

Women students/scholars/social activists/teachers from Non-Tier I cities and rural areas of India

Candidates enrolled in or associated with any university, academic, or non-academic institution

Applicants belonging to the age group of 21–40 years

Stipend & Facilities

Stipend: ₹20,000 per month (lump sum)

Travel reimbursement: To and fro journey by Deluxe/AC bus or 3 Tier AC train

Accommodation: Hostel facility on a sharing basis will be provided for the duration of the programme in Delhi

Duration & Internship Batches

The internship is offered in four terms during the financial year, each lasting two months:

May – June

August – September

November – December

February – March

Application Timeline

Applications must be submitted two months prior to the commencement of the internship and only between the 1st and 10th of the relevant month.

For example:

1st–10th March → Internship for May–June

1st–10th June → Internship for August–September

Important Note
