PRATIVAAD 2026 Debate Competition Full Details Registration Last Date Eligibility Rounds Prizes

The S S Khanna Girls’ Degree College, a constituent college of the University of Allahabad, is organizing the 4th Inter-Collegiate Bilingual Politico-Legal Debate Competition “PRATIVAAD 2026” under the Saroj Lalji Mehrotra Centre of Legal Studies.

The competition will be held on April 7 2026 and will focus on the theme
“Right to Recall Strengthening People’s Sovereignty or Disruption of Electoral Mandate”

Important Dates

  • Last Date for Registration: 31 March 2026 (11:59 PM)
  • Event Date: 07 April 2026

Students are advised to complete registration before the deadline as entries are limited.

Eligibility and Team Composition

The competition is open for:

  • Undergraduate students pursuing 5 year integrated law course
  • Undergraduate students of Political Science

Team Rules

  • Each team must have 2 participants
  • One will speak for the motion and one against the motion
  • Both members must be from the same institution
  • Each college can send maximum 2 teams per department
  • Both participants must debate in the same language (Hindi or English)
  • Recommendation letter from college is mandatory

Competition Structure

The debate will be conducted in two rounds:

1 Preliminary Round

  • Each participant gets 4 minutes
  • No rebuttal allowed
  • Marks will be given individually
  • Team score = total of both members
  • Top 4 teams qualify for final
  • Best speakers will be selected based on individual scores

2 Final Round

  • Matchups decided by draw of lots
  • Motion side also decided by draw of lots
  • Speaking time: 4 minutes per team
  • Rebuttal allowed
  • One member speaks and the other gives rebuttal
  • Rebuttal time: 2 minutes

General Rules

  • Participants will be identified by team codes only
  • Carry college ID card mandatory
  • Use of abusive language leads to disqualification
  • No books notes or gadgets allowed
  • Judges’ decision will be final and binding

Evaluation Criteria

Participants will be judged on:

  • Clarity and organization
  • Presentation style
  • Subject knowledge
  • Originality and argument strength
  • Rebuttal ability (final round only)

Dress Code

  • Formal attire is mandatory for all participants

  • Best Speaker (For Motion): ₹2000 + Trophy + Certificate
  • Best Speaker (Against Motion): ₹2000 + Trophy + Certificate
  • Best Team Award: ₹2000 + Trophy + Certificate
  • All participants will receive Participation Certificates

  • Host college will not participate to ensure transparency
  • Organizer’s decision will be final in case of disputes
