About NITI Aayog

NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) serves as the apex public policy think tank of the Government of India. It plays a key role in policy formulation, economic development, cooperative federalism, and governance reforms through a bottom-up approach involving State Governments.

About the Internship

NITI Aayog introduced its Internship Scheme in 2015 to engage students pursuing Undergraduate, Graduate, Postgraduate degrees, or research scholars from recognized universities in India or abroad.

The internship provides students an opportunity to work closely with government departments, policy researchers, and administrators and gain exposure to public policy, governance, economics, law, technology, and social sector projects.

Internship Duration

• Minimum Duration: 6 Weeks
• Maximum Duration: 6 Months

Eligibility Criteria

Students from recognized universities/institutions in India or abroad are eligible if they meet the following criteria:

Undergraduate Students

• Must have completed/appeared in 2nd year / 4th semester
• Must have secured at least 85% marks in Class 12

Postgraduate Students

• Must have completed/appeared in 1st year / 2nd semester of PG
• Must have secured at least 70% marks in Graduation

Research Scholars / PhD Students

• Eligible to apply

Students Waiting for Higher Studies Admission

Students who have completed Graduation/PG and are waiting for admission for higher studies may also apply if:

• They have 70% or more cumulative marks
• The gap between result declaration and internship start should not exceed 6 months

Important Conditions

• A candidate can apply only once during a financial year
• Applicants must clearly mention their area of interest
• Selected candidates must produce original mark sheets and NOC from college/institution at the time of joining
