National Human Rights Commission Opens Applications for Two-Week Online Internship; Apply by July 10

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has invited applications for its Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) – August 2026. The two-week full-time online internship will be conducted from 3 August to 14 August 2026, offering students across India an opportunity to gain practical insights into human rights, constitutional values, and the functioning of the NHRC.

Eligible students from undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma, and research programmes can apply online. Selected interns will receive a stipend of ₹2,000 upon successful completion of the internship.

About the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is a statutory body established on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. The Commission is responsible for the protection and promotion of human rights in India, including rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity guaranteed by the Constitution and international human rights conventions.

About the Internship

The Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) aims to familiarize students with human rights issues, constitutional governance, and the role of NHRC through interactive online sessions, assignments, and project work.

The internship is full-time, and applicants must ensure their availability throughout the programme.

Eligibility Criteria

Applications are invited from students across India who fall under any of the following categories:

• Students studying in the 3rd year and onwards of a five-year integrated course.
• Students studying in the 3rd year or final year of a graduation programme.
• Students pursuing any semester/year of a postgraduate degree.
• Students pursuing any semester/year of a postgraduate diploma.
• Research Scholars in any discipline.

Applicants must also satisfy the following conditions:

• Minimum 60% marks in Class XII and in the first four semesters of graduation or integrated course.
• Candidates must clearly mention the percentage calculated from their CGPA/SGPA, along with the conversion formula.
• Applicants must not be more than 28 years of age as on 1 July 2026.

Stipend and Certificate

Selected interns who successfully complete the programme will receive:

• Stipend of ₹2,000
• Certificate of Participation

Certificates will be awarded based on:

• Attendance
• Punctuality
• Discipline
• Active participation in online sessions
• Timely submission of project presentation, project report, and book review

Documents Required

Applicants must upload the following documents along with the application:

• Statement of Purpose (SoP) of 250 words on the topic: "Statement of Purpose (SoP) for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship."
• Self-attested scanned copies of Class XII mark sheet and all semester/year mark sheets of the current course.
• Recommendation Letter from the HOD, Dean, or Principal in the prescribed format.

Incomplete applications will be rejected.
