Over 50 International Students from 10 Countries Choose Allahabad University for 2025-26 Admissions via ‘Study in India’ Portal

In a significant development that underscores its growing global appeal, the University of Allahabad (AU) has attracted more than 50 international students from over 10 countries for admissions in the academic session 2025–26. These students have chosen AU as their first preference on the ‘Study in India’ portal, an initiative by the Government of India aimed at promoting Indian education globally.
Global Interest from 10 Countries
International students hailing from countries such as Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Tanzania, Vietnam, Ghana, Canada, Yemen, and Nigeria have shown interest in pursuing undergraduate (UG), postgraduate (PG), and research programs at Allahabad University. The deadline for applications via the Study in India portal is June 30, 2025.
Registrar Issues Notification
In response to this positive global interest, the Registrar of Allahabad University has issued a formal notification outlining the application process, eligibility, and seat allocation for international candidates.
Four Categories of Applicants
International applicants are categorized into four distinct groups:
- Foreign Nationals
- Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) Cardholders
- Non-Resident Indians (NRI)
- Wards of NRIs
Foreign Nationals, OCI Cardholders, and NRIs are required to register on the Study in India portal to obtain a Unique ID (UID). This UID is mandatory for proceeding with the admission process. After receiving the UID, students must send their application to the official email:

Meanwhile, applicants under the NRI Ward category can directly send their application to the same email without registering on the portal.
Seat Allocation Details
- 20% of seats in all UG, PG, and Ph.D. courses (excluding law) are reserved for international students in addition to the regular sanctioned intake.
- In the case of B.A. LL.B. and LL.B., two seats each are reserved for international students.
- If seats remain vacant, the application deadline may be extended until the admission process for Indian applicants is completed.
Additional Seats for Foreign Applicants
