📚 Allahabad University PGAT 2025 Witnesses Historic Surge in Law Aspirants

Prayagraj, June 16, 2025:
The University of Allahabad, one of India’s oldest and most prestigious institutions, has reported a record-breaking surge in competition for its postgraduate and professional law programs this year. The Postgraduate Admission Test (PGAT) 2025, held from June 10 to 13, attracted over 29,000 applicants, with an overwhelming response particularly for the LL.M. (Master of Laws) and LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) courses.

📈 LL.M. Program: 22 Aspirants Per Seat

The LL.M. entrance exam saw 8167 candidates competing for just 191 available seats, translating to approximately 22 students per seat. This marks a steep rise from previous years, emphasizing the increasing demand for specialized legal education in India.

Out of the 4266 total LL.M. applicants, the majority chose to appear in offline mode, reflecting the popularity and seriousness of the exam across the nation. The surge highlights Allahabad University’s position as a premier destination for postgraduate legal studies.

⚖️ LL.B. Admission: High Demand for Limited Seats

Similarly, the LL.B. entrance test received 8167 applicants for just 900 seats, resulting in around 9 aspirants per seat. This undergraduate-level legal program continues to maintain its stature as one of the most sought-after courses at the university.

📝 PGAT-1 and PGAT-2 Conducted Smoothly in Hybrid Mode

Allahabad University successfully conducted PGAT-1 and PGAT-2 in both online and offline modes, ensuring wide accessibility for candidates from all parts of the country. PGAT-1 included 12 core postgraduate subjects, while PGAT-2 recorded 7231 candidates appearing across a range of streams, including LL.M., LL.B., M.Com., M.A., and others.
