UGC Appoints 12 NEP SAARTHIs from University of Allahabad to Drive Academic Reforms
Prayagraj, June 28, 2025 – In a significant move to accelerate the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the University Grants Commission (UGC) has appointed 12 students from the University of Allahabad as NEP SAARTHIs (Student Ambassadors for Academic Reforms in Transforming Higher Education in India). These ambassadors, nominated by the university after a rigorous selection process, will play a pivotal role in promoting NEP initiatives on campus and gathering student feedback.
Strict Criteria for Selection
The UGC had invited nominations. The higher educational institutions with over 10,000 enrolled students, permitting a maximum of 12 recommendations per university. The selected students were chosen based on their academic standing, leadership qualities, and commitment to educational reforms.
The appointed SAARTHIs represent diverse academic levels, including:
- 3-Year UG Programme: 3rd, 4th, and 5th-semester students
- 4-Year UG Programme: 3rd to 6th-semester students
- Post-Graduation: 1st to 3rd-semester scholars
- Ph.D.: First-year research scholars

Objectives of the Initiative
The NEP SAARTHI program aims to:
