DU Releases First Seat Allotment List for UG Courses 2025

The University of Delhi (DU) on Saturday released the first seat allotment list for undergraduate courses under the Common Seat Allocation System (CSAS) 2025. A total of 93,166 students have been allotted colleges and courses in this round, marking a significant start to the UG admission process.

This year, DU has allotted around 30% more seats than the actual number to avoid vacancies at a later stage. Admissions are being conducted for 71,642 seats across 79 undergraduate programs offered by 69 colleges.

Special Categories: Single Girl Child and Orphan Quota

Under the special categories, 1,325 seats have been allotted to Single Girl Child applicants, while 259 seats have been assigned to students under the orphan category. Many candidates accepted their allotted college and course, while others opted for the "Upgrade" option to improve their seat in the next round.

Dean of Admission Prof. Haneet Gandhi clarified that students choosing the upgrade option must be careful as they cannot return to the previous allotment.

What to Do If Not Satisfied With the Allotted Seat?

If candidates are not satisfied with their allotted seat, they can opt for the "Float" option, allowing them to be considered for higher preferences in upcoming rounds. However, those content with their seat should choose the "Freeze" option and complete the admission by paying the fee.

The deadline to accept the allotted seat is July 21, 2025 (4:59 PM). Colleges will verify documents by July 22, and the last date to pay the admission fee is July 23.

Second Seat Allotment List on July 28

The university will release the vacant seat list on July 24, allowing students to rearrange their preferences on July 24 and 25. The second CSAS seat allotment list will be published on July 28 at 5:00 PM. Classes for the first-year UG students will begin from August 1, 2025.

Prof. Gandhi added that students will soon be able to view category-wise cutoffs for each course and college on their dashboard. This transparency will help applicants understand where they stand compared to others in their category.

Higher Seat Allotment in Off-Campus Colleges

Interestingly, this year fewer seats were over-allocated in prominent North Campus colleges, while higher over-allocation was done in evening colleges and off-campus colleges. BA programs and language courses saw the highest number of over-allocations.

This is a strategic move by the university to ensure maximum enrollment, especially after the experience two years ago when a significant number of seats remained vacant.

Performance-Based Courses Seat Allocation in Round 3

The performance-based UG courses, such as those requiring trials or interviews, will see their seat allocation in the third round. Students must check respective college websites for trial schedules and minimum score or rank information, which are also available on the DU admission portal and individual dashboards.

PG Admissions: Spot Round 1 Applications Invited

For postgraduate courses, DU has invited applications for Spot Round 1 admissions under the CSAS PG 2025 system. Candidates who applied earlier but did not receive any course allotment can now activate the ‘Spot Admission’ option via their CSAS (PG) dashboard.

The university has advised students to regularly check the official admission portal for updates and announcements to avoid missing any critical information.

Delhi University’s CSAS 2025 admission cycle is off to a dynamic start, with proactive steps to avoid seat vacancies and accommodate diverse categories. Candidates are urged to carefully use the Freeze, Float, or Upgrade options and follow deadlines closely to secure their desired college and course.
