SANSAD-I Inter-collegiate Parliamentary Debate Competition 2026 Announced by C.M.P. Degree College, Prayagraj
Registrations Open; Competition to be Held on April 21, 2026
The B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) Programme of C.M.P. Degree College, a constituent PG college of the University of Allahabad, has announced the SANSAD-I Inter-collegiate Parliamentary Debate Competition 2026. The competition is being organised in celebration of National Civil Services Day on April 21, 2026.
The event aims to encourage informed deliberation on contemporary legal and constitutional issues while fostering the spirit of democratic debate among law students.
Eligibility
The competition is open to:
- Bona fide undergraduate law students
- Students must be pursuing a recognised Bachelor of Law programme
- The college/university must be situated in Prayagraj
Team Participation Rules
- Each team shall consist of two speakers
- A maximum of 10 teams will be allowed to participate
- From each institution, maximum two teams may participate
- Participation will be granted on a first-come, first-served basis
- In each debate round, two teams will compete against each other
- One team will represent the Proposition (Government)
- Prime Minister
- Deputy Prime Minister
- The other team will represent the Opposition
- Leader of Opposition
- Deputy Leader of Opposition
Debate Motions
The competition will consist of two rounds:
Preliminary Round Motion
“This House supports the establishment of the All-India Judicial Service.”
Final Round Motion
“This House would introduce a statutory ceiling on lawyers’ professional fees.”
Speaking Time
- 5 minutes speaking time per participant
- 2 minutes rebuttal time
Rules and Regulations (Important)
Participants must note the following:
- Teams will be assigned Proposition or Opposition by draw of lots
- Judges’ decision will be final and binding
- Participants must maintain decorum, professionalism, and respect
- Plagiarism, offensive language, or violation of debate etiquette may lead to disqualification
- The organising committee reserves the right to modify the rules
- It is mandatory to upload the Permission Letter from the Institution in the Google Form and also send it via email
