UPPSC Invites Applications for Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services Examination 2026
The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) has released the official notification for the Combined State/Upper Subordinate Services (PCS) Examination 2026. Eligible candidates can now apply online for one of the state's most prestigious civil services examinations.
The online application process commenced on 25 June 2026, and candidates can submit their applications and pay the examination fee until 27 July 2026. The last date for correction or modification of the submitted application is 3 August 2026.
About the Recruitment
The PCS Examination is conducted annually to recruit officers for various Group 'A' and Group 'B' posts under the Uttar Pradesh Government. This year's recruitment offers around 500 vacancies, although the Commission has clarified that the number of vacancies may increase or decrease depending upon departmental requirements.

Candidates possessing an LL.B. degree can compete for posts such as Law Officer and Assistant Prosecuting Officer (Transport), along with several administrative services, subject to the prescribed eligibility conditions. For the post of Law Officer, candidates must possess a Bachelor of Laws degree from a recognised university and have a thorough knowledge of Hindi written in Devanagari script.

Eligibility Criteria
Educational Qualification
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree from a recognised university. However, specific posts require additional qualifications prescribed under the relevant service rules.
Age Limit
As on 1 July 2026:
- Minimum Age: 21 years
- Maximum Age: 40 years
Reserved category candidates are entitled to age relaxation as per Uttar Pradesh Government rules.
Selection Process
The PCS Examination will be conducted in three stages:
Preliminary Examination
- Two objective-type papers.
- Each paper carries 200 marks.
- Paper II is qualifying in nature with 33% minimum qualifying marks.
- Merit for the Preliminary Examination will be determined based on Paper I only.
Main Examination
Qualified candidates will appear for the Main Examination consisting of:
- General Hindi
- Essay
- General Studies Paper I
- General Studies Paper II
- General Studies Paper III
- General Studies Paper IV
- General Studies Paper V
- General Studies Paper VI
All papers are descriptive (conventional) in nature.
Interview
Candidates qualifying the Main Examination will be called for a Personality Test (Interview) carrying 100 marks. Final selection will be based on the marks obtained in the Main Examination and Interview, in accordance with the applicable service rules.
Application Fee
The examination fee is as follows:
- General/OBC/EWS: ₹125
- SC/ST (U.P.): ₹65
- PwD: ₹25
- Ex-Servicemen (U.P.): ₹65
Candidates belonging to the Dependents of Freedom Fighters, Women, and Skilled Players categories will pay fees according to their original category.

Interested candidates can apply online through the official UPPSC portal after completing the One Time Registration (OTR) process. Applicants are advised to carefully verify all details before final submission, as only one opportunity for correction will be provided within the prescribed timeline.
