NHRC Invites Applications for Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) – August 2026

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has invited applications for its Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) – August 2026. The two-week internship will be conducted online from 3 August to 14 August 2026 and aims to provide students with an in-depth understanding of human rights, constitutional values, and the functioning of the NHRC.

Eligible students from across the country can apply online until 10 July 2026 (6:00 PM).



About the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC)

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is a statutory body established on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993. The Commission is entrusted with the responsibility of protecting and promoting human rights in India, including the rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity guaranteed under the Constitution and international human rights conventions.

About the Internship

The Online Short Term Internship Programme (OSTI) is designed to familiarise students with human rights issues, legal frameworks, and the role of the NHRC in protecting fundamental rights. The internship combines expert lectures, project work, book reviews, and interactive learning sessions to provide practical exposure to human rights education.

Eligibility

Applications are invited from:

  • Students studying in the 3rd year or above of a 5-year integrated course.
  • Students in the 3rd year or final year of a graduation course.
  • Students pursuing any semester/year of a postgraduate degree.
  • Students pursuing any semester/year of a postgraduate diploma course.
  • Research Scholars from any discipline.

Applicants must also:

  • Have secured a minimum of 60% marks in Class XII and in the first four semesters of their graduation or five-year integrated course.
  • Clearly mention the percentage calculated from their CGPA/SGPA along with the prescribed conversion formula.
  • Be below 28 years of age as on 1 July 2026.

2 Weeks

Internship Period: 3 August – 14 August 2026

Work Timings: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM

Internship Type

The programme is a full-time online internship, conducted from Monday to Friday. Selected interns are expected to remain available throughout the scheduled working hours.

Stipend and Certificate

Selected interns who successfully complete the programme will receive:

  • Stipend: ₹2,000
  • Certificate of Participation, subject to:
    • Regular attendance and punctuality.
    • Active participation in online sessions.
    • Timely submission of the Project Report, Project Presentation, and Book Review.

Documents Required

Applicants must upload the following documents while submitting their application:

  • Statement of Purpose (SoP): A 250-word write-up on the topic "Statement of Purpose (SoP) for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship."
  • Self-attested scanned copies of mark sheets from Class XII onwards, including all semesters/years of the current course.
  • Recommendation Letter/Email from the Head of Department, Dean, or Principal in the prescribed format.

Incomplete applications or those without the required documents will be rejected.
