Ministry of Women and Child Development Invites Applications for August–September 2026 Internship; Women Candidates to Receive ₹20,000 Monthly Stipend
The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD), Government of India, has invited applications for its August–September 2026 Internship Programme. The internship is aimed at providing women students, scholars, social activists, and teachers from non-Tier I cities and rural areas of India with practical exposure to policy formulation, programme implementation, and issues relating to women and child development.
Selected interns will receive a monthly stipend of ₹20,000, travel reimbursement, and hostel accommodation (on a sharing basis) during the internship in Delhi.
About the Ministry of Women and Child Development
The Ministry of Women and Child Development (MWCD) is the apex body of the Government of India responsible for formulating and administering policies, programmes, and legislation relating to the welfare, development, and empowerment of women and children across the country.
About the Internship
The MWCD Internship Programme provides participants with an opportunity to gain practical exposure to the Ministry's work, including policy analysis, programme implementation, and research on issues concerning women and children.
Interns may also undertake pilot projects and micro-studies focusing on the Ministry's ongoing initiatives, enabling them to contribute to policy discussions and become proactive advocates for women and child rights.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be women students, scholars, social activists, or teachers.
- Be enrolled in or associated with a recognised university, academic institution, or non-academic institution.
- Belong to non-Tier I cities or rural parts of India.
- Be between 21 and 40 years of age.
Stipend and Benefits
Selected interns will receive:
- ₹20,000 per month as a lump sum stipend.
- Reimbursement of travel expenses (Deluxe/AC Bus or AC 3-Tier Train) for joining and returning from the internship.
- Hostel accommodation in Delhi on a sharing basis, subject to availability.
Duration
The internship is conducted in four batches every financial year:
- May–June
- August–September
- November–December
- February–March
Each internship batch is of two months' duration.
