About the Job

SES is hiring a Legal Counsel to provide legal support to its business and commercial functions.

The selected candidate will work on a broad range of legal matters, including contract drafting and negotiation, tenders, transactional work, competition law, regulatory matters and commercial projects.

Eligibility

Applicants should have:

• A Master’s degree or LL.M. in Law.
• 3–5 years of post-qualification experience in a law firm or the legal department of a company would be an advantage.
• Bar qualification would be an advantage.
• Experience in the telecommunications or media sector would be an advantage.
• Computer literacy, including Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory.

Candidates with experience in legal practice within a law firm or a company's legal department are preferred.

Roles and Responsibilities

The selected Legal Counsel will be responsible for:

• Structuring, drafting, negotiating and finalising contracts and responses to tenders while ensuring compliance with applicable national and international laws and regulations.

• Conducting legal research and preparing memoranda across various areas of law, including competition law.

• Providing legal assistance to SES affiliates and subsidiaries as required.

• Supporting and advising different business functions on legal and transactional matters.

• Providing timely legal advice to commercial teams regarding projects, contracts, initiatives, bids and public-private partnership initiatives.

• Communicating clearly and effectively with stakeholders across different levels of the organisation.

• Building strong working relationships across different functions and teams.

• Presenting clear and credible information to internal and external audiences.

The role is therefore particularly suited to lawyers with experience in commercial contracts, transactional matters, regulatory law and in-house legal operations.
