Over 14.9 lakh students expected to appear for one of the largest national-level entrance exams in India

New Delhi | May 12, 2025 — The Common University Entrance Test for Undergraduate Programs (CUET UG) 2025, conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is all set to begin tomorrow, May 13, and will continue till May 24 in multiple shifts. This national-level examination serves as a gateway for admission to a wide range of undergraduate programmes across central, state, and participating universities in India and select international locations.

With millions of aspirants competing for limited seats, the NTA has issued a set of strict exam day guidelines, including reporting time, mandatory documents, dress code, and prohibited items at the exam center to ensure smooth and fair conduct of the exam.

Exam Format and Duration

CUET UG 2025 will be conducted in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode. The test will be held at designated centers across 379 cities, including 26 international cities. The duration and shift of the exam will vary depending on the subjects chosen by the candidates.

Reporting Time & Entry Instructions

Candidates must report to their respective exam centres as per the reporting time mentioned on their admit cards.

  • Late entry is strictly prohibited — students arriving after the gate closes will not be allowed to appear for the exam.
  • Students are advised to reach the center at least 15–30 minutes early to avoid last-minute hassles or delays due to traffic or security checks.

Mandatory Documents to Carry

Candidates must carry the following items on exam day:

  • A printed copy of the CUET UG 2025 admit card
  • One passport-size photograph (same as uploaded during registration)
  • A valid government-issued photo ID — Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, Passport, Voter ID, or Driving License
  • A transparent ball-point pen

Failure to bring any of these documents may result in disqualification from the exam.

Prohibited Items

NTA has released a comprehensive list of items not allowed inside the exam premises:

  • Electronic gadgets: Mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, earphones, microphones, or calculators
  • Food items, packed or unpacked (allowed only for students with medical conditions with prior approval and supporting documents)
  • Jewellery and metal items: Ornaments, nose pins, chains, rings, anklets, etc.
  • Accessories: Wallets, handbags, goggles, caps, or hats

Dress Code for CUET UG 2025

Students are advised to wear simple and light clothing as per NTA guidelines.

  • Avoid clothes with big buttons, badges, embroidery, or metal attachments
  • No shoes or high heels — students must wear slippers or sandals with thin soles
  • Those wearing religious or customary attire are advised to arrive well in advance for additional frisking procedures

Key Exam Day Instructions

  • Candidates must sit only at their assigned workstations
  • Rough sheets will be provided for calculations — bringing personal sheets is not allowed
  • Unfair means or malpractices will lead to immediate disqualification
  • Students must follow the instructions of invigilators without fail
  • Verify the exam centre address in advance and plan travel accordingly
