Book Discussion Programme Begins in Prayagraj: A Thoughtful Initiative by Prajna Pravah Yuva Aayam

Under the joint auspices of Prajna Pravah Yuva Aayam, Kashi Prant, and Shankh.org, the Book Discussion Programme commenced in Prayagraj, marking a significant step in literary and intellectual engagement. This event was not confined to a critical analysis of a book but emerged as a vital initiative promoting intellectual discussions, historical reinterpretations, and social discourse.

The discussion centered on the two-volumed book "Savarkar", authored by Vikram Sampath. Scholars and researchers presented their in-depth studies and perspectives on the subject. Distinguished experts, Dr. Mrityunjay Rao Parmar (Assistant Professor, Department of English & Modern European Languages, University of Allahabad), Advocate Abhijeet Mukherjee (Allahabad High Court) and Dr. Kunvar Shekhar Gupta provided extensive insights into Veer Savarkar's historical contributions, ideology, and influence on Indian society.

Dr. Mrityunjay Rao Parmar, in his address, focused on the first volume of Vikram Sampath's "Savarkar". He highlighted Savarkar’s early life, education in Pune, his time in England, and his association with India House in London. His discussion elaborated on the establishment of revolutionary organizations like Abhinav Bharat, Savarkar’s commitment to nationalism, his radical resistance, literary contributions, and his early ideological stance on Hindutva.

Advocate Abhijeet Mukherjee analyzed the second volume of "Savarkar", detailing Savarkar’s life post-release from Kala Pani (Cellular Jail), particularly his social reform activities in Ratnagiri and his association with the Hindu Mahasabha. Mukherjee extensively discussed Savarkar’s views on Hindu unity, linguistic reforms, and the abolition of untouchability. He also explored Savarkar’s criticism of Congress's appeasement policies, his perspective during the freedom movement, and the controversy surrounding his alleged involvement in Gandhi’s assassination, followed by his acquittal after a thorough investigation.

During the concluding Q&A session, concerns were raised regarding the neglect of Savarkar’s works and ideas in the modern education system. This debate not only highlighted the need for academic reforms but also challenged the prevalent historical narratives.

Dr. Kunvar Shekhar Gupta, Assistant Professor, Department of English, United University, Prayagraj, and Prant Sanyojak, Prajna Pravah Yuva Aayam, Kashi Prant, emphasized that this was not just a book discussion but a profound intellectual journey connecting the shadows of history to the realities of the present. He stated that "Veer Savarkar is one of the key figures of India’s freedom movement whose ideology and contributions need to be understood in a broader perspective. Such discussions enrich us intellectually while strengthening our cultural and national identity." He further announced that the Book Discussion Programme would be held monthly, ensuring the continuity of intellectual exchange and providing a robust platform for the in-depth study of literature and history.

Several distinguished scholars, advocates, and researchers participated in the event, including Dr. Uday Pratap (Assistant Professor, Ishwar Sharan Degree College, Prayagraj), Kush Srivastava (Entrepreneur and Social Worker), Akash Singh (Assistant Teacher, Primary School), and research scholars Pooja Singh, Singh Saurabh Sanjay, Ankur, and Advocates Abhinav Mishra, Adarsh Shukla. The event also saw active participation from students across disciplines, including Harshita Singh, Ambe Pandey, Prashant Singh, Abhijeet Yadav, Harsh Singh, Dhruv, Satyam Dwivedi, Sunil Kesarwani, Uttam Singh, and many other undergraduate and postgraduate students.
