📍 Lucknow: A Major Academic Shift under NEP 2020

In a significant academic reform aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, Lucknow University (LU) will offer a one-year postgraduate (PG) programme starting from the academic session 2025-26. This marks the first time LU will implement a one-year PG option, a step that brings the university in line with national education transformation goals.

🎯 Who is Eligible?

According to Prof. Geetanjali Mishra, Dean Academics, Lucknow University:

“Only those students who have completed a four-year undergraduate degree under NEP will be eligible for this one-year PG programme.”

Around 150 students from LU’s BA and BCom courses have already completed their four-year UG degrees.
Students from other state universities with four-year UG degrees can also apply for this programme at LU.

The existing two-year PG programme will continue to be available for students who have completed a three-year graduation.

🧑‍🏫 'Professor of Practice' to Be Introduced

For the first time, Lucknow University will appoint Professors of Practice in the academic session 2025-26. This initiative is also a key part of NEP implementation.

These experienced professionals will be teaching in the following departments:

Journalism and Mass Communication
Hindi
Social Work

This move is aimed at bridging the gap between academic knowledge and industry practices, offering students hands-on exposure and mentoring.
