NHRC Opens Applications for Online Internship Programme – August 2025
Two-Week Online Internship with Stipend and Certificate; Apply by 23rd July
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has released its official notification inviting applications for the Online Short-Term Internship Programme (OSTI) for the month of August 2025. The internship will be held from 11th August to 22nd August 2025 in a full-time online mode.
The internship is designed to engage students in human rights education and encourage them to understand, study, and analyze the human rights framework in India and across the globe.
About NHRC – India’s Premier Human Rights Body
The NHRC of India is a statutory public body established on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance, 1993, and later granted statutory status through the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA). The Commission is tasked with protecting and promoting human rights defined as the rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity of the individual, as guaranteed by the Indian Constitution and international human rights instruments enforceable by Indian courts.
Over the years, NHRC has played a crucial role in shaping India's human rights landscape, holding the state accountable and recommending corrective measures.
Eligibility Criteria for August 2025 Internship
NHRC invites applications from eligible students across India. Students from the following categories can apply:
- 3rd year and onwards of a 5-year integrated PG course
- 3rd or final year of a 3-year undergraduate course
- Any year of post-graduate degree or diploma course
- Research scholars in any discipline
Applicants must have secured minimum 60% marks in Class XII and all subsequent courses. The calculated percentage from CGPA/SGPA must be clearly mentioned along with the formula.
Failure to provide either the formula or calculated percentage will lead to rejection of the application. Applicants must also be 28 years or younger as of 1st July 2025 and must ensure full-time availability during the internship period.
Duration, Mode, and Work Hours
The internship will be conducted online from 11th to 22nd August 2025. It will follow a full-time schedule from 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday). Interns must be punctual and fully present throughout the programme.
Any form of absenteeism or lack of participation will impact the awarding of the certificate and stipend.
Stipend and Certification Details
All selected interns who complete the internship successfully will receive a stipend of ₹2,000. In addition, a certificate of participation will be awarded based on:
- Timely attendance and discipline
- Participation in all sessions
- Submission of book review, project report, and final presentation
These criteria are strictly monitored by the NHRC team during the internship.
Documents Required for Application
Applications missing any of the required documents will be summarily rejected. The necessary documents include:
- Statement of Purpose (SoP) – A 250-word write-up explaining why the applicant wants to join the NHRC Online Internship.
- Self-attested mark sheets – From 12th standard onwards, including each semester/year of the current course.
- Recommendation Letter – Signed by the HOD/Dean/Principal in the prescribed format.
