ABVP Demands Action Against Culprits Within 48 Hours; Protest Demonstrations to Be Held Across All District Centers Today.

Just as the UP Chief Minister has acted firmly against mafias, we are hopeful that education mafias too will face the same fate: Ankit Shukla.

At a press conference held today, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) strongly condemned the brutal lathi-charge by police and the attack by hired goons on the peaceful protest of law students at Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University, Barabanki. ABVP demanded that within 48 hours, the Uttar Pradesh Government must ensure punitive action against all guilty university administrators as well as the police personnel involved. The organization termed the incident as an assault on democratic values and urged the state government to immediately deliver justice. In this context,ABVP karyakartas will stage protest demonstrations across all district centers of Uttar Pradesh. If the demands are not met within the stipulated time frame, ABVP will be compelled to launch a state-wide movement.

For years, Shri Ramswaroop Memorial University has been running its law program in violation of norms and without proper renewal/approval. Only on Wednesday did the Bar Council of India grant provisional recognition, which clearly proves that the course had been conducted illegally until now. In protest against these irregularities, ABVP karyakartas will demonstrate at all district centers of the state today. The movement will continue until justice is ensured for the students.

Key Demands of ABVP:

1. Register cases and ensure strict action against the police personnel and hired goons involved in the lathi-charge. Make public who ordered the police action.

2. Conduct a high-level inquiry into the illegal operation of the law course, punish the responsible university officials, and shut down the university.

3. Investigate the collection of late fees, social welfare charges, and other illegal monetary extortions; make the report public; and punish those responsible for the unlawful expulsion of students without prior notice.

4. Take strict action against the university on the basis of the FIR lodged by the Secretary of the Higher Education Council.

5. Immediately implement the Tehsildar Court’s order to remove the illegal encroachment of nearly 6 bighas of government land and enforce the fine of ₹27.96 lakh, including demolition of the illegal constructions of the university administration.

ABVP's National Secretary Shri Ankit Shukla said," Since its inception, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad has worked to resolve students’ issues and to foster a positive academic environment within university campuses. We strongly condemn the brutal lathi-charge on ABVP karyakartas and demand the strictest action against all police personnel involved. We further urge immediate action on the FIR filed by the Higher Education Council against the university administration and call for demolition of the illegal construction on the 6 bighas of government land, as ordered by the Tehsildar Court on August 25. Today, ABVP karyakartas will hold protests at all district centers across the state. If our demands are not fulfilled within 48 hours, we will be compelled to launch a large-scale state-wide movement. The Hon’ble Chief Minister has acted decisively against mafias in the past, and we are hopeful that education mafias too will be dealt with in the same manner.”

In this press conference, Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad’s National Secretary Ankit Shukla and National Executive Council Member & National Media Team Member Abhinav Mishra were present.
