Competition Commission of India Invites Applications for Legal Internship; ₹15,000 Monthly Honorarium, 15 Seats

About the Competition Commission of India

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) is a statutory body established under the Competition Act, 2002, with the mandate of promoting and sustaining competition in the Indian market and preventing practices that have an appreciable adverse effect on competition.

The CCI's internship programme is designed to provide students with practical exposure to the working of competition law and the functioning of the country's competition regulator. The Commission's official internship page states that the programme aims to familiarise students with the practical working and nuances of competition law.

About the Internship Opportunity

The Competition Commission of India is inviting applications from eligible students for its Legal Internship Programme.

The internship provides an opportunity for law students to gain practical exposure to Competition Law, legal research and the functioning of the CCI.

The internship is conducted at Delhi and is a full-time programme.

Eligibility

The internship is open to students meeting the following eligibility criteria:

  • Students in the second or third year of a three-year LL.B. programme.
  • Students in the fourth or final year of a five-year integrated LL.B. programme.
  • Students who have completed their third-year examination and are entering the fourth year of a five-year integrated law course.
  • Students pursuing an LL.M. programme.

The internship is open only to Indian nationals.

Students must be enrolled in recognised institutions or universities and should have exposure to Competition Law.

Students who already have a placement in hand are not eligible to apply.

Duration

The internship is normally for a period of one month, commencing from the first working day of the month.

Students who wish to pursue the internship for two to three calendar months may also apply, provided they submit the required recommendation from their university, college or institution for the entire period sought.

The CCI internship is a full-time programme, and interns are required to observe the working hours of the Commission.

Stipend / Honorarium

Selected interns will receive an honorarium of ₹15,000 per month during the internship.

The CCI's internship guidelines specifically provide for a monthly honorarium of ₹15,000.

Number of Seats

The programme provides for up to 15 interns per month.

The number may be relaxed for a particular month where more applicants with strong research topics in Competition Law are available.

The CCI's recent updates also show that its July 2026 internship batch consisted of 15 students from across India, confirming that the programme continues to operate on a monthly basis.

Certification

Interns who successfully complete the programme will be awarded an electronic certificate.

The certificate is issued after certification/confirmation by the concerned mentor or guide that the intern has satisfactorily completed the assigned work.

The internship guidelines also require interns to complete the assigned work and make a presentation on their work at the end of the internship.

Location

Delhi

The current CCI internship programme is conducted through the Commission's offices in New Delhi.
