The Students for Development (SFD), an initiative of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), conducted an "Paryavaran Chetna Yatra" from the Singh Dwar of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) to Assi Ghat. The aim of the yatra was to inspire society to conserve and promote the environment. Upon reaching Assi Ghat, the female students participating in the yatra engaged in social awareness activities through a street play and by forming a large human chain, highlighting the need for collective efforts to raise environmental consciousness in society. The event’s chief guest, former Vice Chancellor of Kaziranga and KIIT University Prof. PK Mishra, along with SFD's National Co-Convenor Payal Rai, ABVP State Secretary Abhay Pratap Singh, State Organizing Secretary Abhilash, and State SFD Convener Priyanshu, were prominently present in this event.
ABVP's Students for Development (SFD) works tirelessly to foster environmental consciousness in society while conserving and promoting various environmental components nationwide. In Varanasi, SFD conducts ongoing initiatives like "Sunday for BHU" and "Sunday for Asi River," which significantly contribute to raising environmental awareness among students. The yatra organized today by SFD created a positive atmosphere, with the local community actively participating with great enthusiasm.
Prof. PK Mishra, addressing the gathering as the chief guest, said, "Environmental awareness is crucial today, and SFD's efforts are exemplary. While everyone talks about environmental protection, more actions are needed to halt degradation. The public awareness generated through today's yatra is commendable, and such initiatives are vital in today’s context."
Payal Rai, SFD's National Co-Convenor, stated, "Environmental conservation is widely discussed today, yet our efforts often fall short. The 'Paryavaran Chetna Yatra' aims to connect Varanasi's youth with environmental conservation, and SFD continues to undertake such initiatives."
ABVP State Secretary Abhay Pratap Singh congratulated all the participants in the campaign, stating, "SFD is making significant strides in environmental conservation across the country. In Varanasi, various projects initiated through these activities will positively impact the future."
