NEET UG 2025 Exam Analysis: Physics Toughest, Biology Lengthy; Cut-Offs May Be Affected

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET UG) 2025 was conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Sunday, May 4, from 2 PM to 5 PM. With over 20 lakh aspirants appearing for the medical entrance test this year, the exam was held under tight security across several centers nationwide. Early reactions from students and coaching institutes suggest a challenging paper, especially in the Physics section, which could impact the cut-offs this year.

Physics: Most Challenging Section with Cross-Topic Conceptual Questions

Multiple experts and aspirants have termed Physics as the most difficult of all three sections. According to Nitin Vijay, CEO of Motion Education, Physics in NEET UG 2025 demanded deep analytical thinking and the application of concepts from multiple chapters like Electrodynamics, Thermodynamics, and Modern Physics. Time management became a major hurdle for students due to the complexity and length of the questions.

Chemistry: Moderate to Difficult, Focus on Class 12 Syllabus

The Chemistry section received mixed reviews. Nabin Karki, National Academic Director (Medical) at Aakash Educational Services, stated that the section ranged from medium to difficult. The paper focused heavily on Organic and Physical Chemistry from Class 12, with several matrix-match and assertion-reason-based questions that required careful reading and precision.

Biology: Lengthy but NCERT-Based and Manageable

While the Biology section was not conceptually difficult, it was described as lengthy. Aspirants reported that most questions were directly based on NCERT textbooks, with one or two exceptions. There was a notable preference for Class 12 content over Class 11. Experts observed that although questions were not very tough, their detailed nature consumed more time, impacting overall time management.

Security Measures and Malpractices: Over 250 Students Under Scanner

Despite strict measures, reports of unfair practices surfaced again. The Uttar Pradesh STF arrested three individuals from a gang involved in rigging the exam. In Kerala, a student was caught using a fake admit card. Nationwide, action has been taken against over 250 MBBS students and aspirants involved in malpractice cases. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has already cancelled or suspended several admissions from the 2024-25 batch.

Additionally, 42 candidates have been debarred from appearing in NEET UG for three years (2024, 2025, 2026) due to impersonation and other violations.

Exam Conducted Across Multiple Centres with Tight Security

The exam was conducted in 27 locations across Odisha and 18 centres in Gurugram under strict surveillance, including CCTV monitoring and senior police oversight. In Gurugram alone, 6,672 students were scheduled to appear, with 210 candidates reported absent.

Cut-Off Trends: High Difficulty May Affect Toppers’ Count

Experts predict that the high difficulty level of Physics and the overall time-consuming nature of the exam may reduce the number of top scorers this year. Dr. Brajesh Maheshwari from Allen Career Institute noted that the number of students scoring in the top bracket could be fewer than last year, potentially impacting admission trends for premier government medical colleges.

Conclusion: NEET UG 2025 – A Test of Depth and Endurance

NEET UG 2025 turned out to be a rigorous test of not only knowledge but also endurance and strategy. While Biology favored NCERT readers, Chemistry demanded attention to detail, and Physics truly tested students’ conceptual depth. With such varying difficulty levels, the NEET UG 2025 cut-offs remain highly anticipated as aspirants await the official answer key and results.
