NHRC Invites Applications for Online Short-Term Internship Programme – May 2025
New Delhi – The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has officially opened applications for its Online Short-Term Internship Programme scheduled from 13th May to 23rd May 2025. This full-time internship, conducted in virtual mode, provides an opportunity for students across India to engage with human rights issues, policy frameworks, and NHRC’s functioning.
About NHRC
The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) is a statutory public body established on 12 October 1993 under the Protection of Human Rights Ordinance, later formalized through the Protection of Human Rights Act, 1993 (PHRA). NHRC is mandated to protect and promote human rights—defined as “rights relating to life, liberty, equality, and dignity of the individual” as guaranteed by the Indian Constitution and international covenants enforceable in Indian courts.
Eligibility Criteria
Applications are open to eligible students from all over the country. The detailed eligibility norms are as follows:
- Students in the 3rd year or above of a 5-year integrated postgraduate law course
- Students in the 3rd or final year of a 3-year undergraduate degree
- Students of any year/semester in postgraduate degree or postgraduate diploma programs
- Research scholars from any stream
Additional conditions include:
- Minimum 60% marks in Class XII and in all subsequent academic courses (including the ongoing one)
- Candidates must provide CGPA to percentage conversion formula and clearly mention the calculated percentage
- The maximum age limit is 28 years as of 1st April 2025
Internship Details
- Duration: 2 weeks
- Dates: 13th May to 23rd May 2025
- Timings: 10:00 AM to 5:30 PM (Monday to Friday)
- Mode: Online
- Type: Full-time engagement
Selected candidates must ensure their availability for the entire duration of the internship.
Stipend and Certification
- A stipend of Rs. 2000/- will be awarded to all student interns upon successful completion
- Certificate of Participation will be awarded based on:
- Attendance, punctuality, and discipline
- Active participation in sessions
- Timely submission of Project Report, Project Presentation, and Book Review
Application Deadline
The last date to apply for the internship is 05 May 2025 by 6:00 PM. Incomplete applications or those missing required documents will be summarily rejected.
Documents Required
Applicants must upload the following documents online:
- Statement of Purpose (SoP): A 250-word write-up titled “Statement of Purpose for joining NHRC Online Short Term Internship”
- Academic Records: Self-attested scanned copies of all mark sheets from Class XII onwards, including each year/semester of the current course
- Recommendation Letter: Scanned recommendation in the prescribed format from HOD/Dean/Principal
