Young Writers to Receive ₹50,000 Monthly Under PM-YUVA 3.0 Mentorship Scheme: Applications Open Until June 10, 2025

New Delhi, May 2025 – In a major boost to India’s literary and creative landscape, the Government of India has officially launched the PM-YUVA 3.0 (Young, Upcoming and Versatile Authors) Mentorship Scheme, an ambitious initiative designed to nurture and empower young writing talent across the country. A monthly scholarship of ₹50,000 for six months will be awarded to selected authors, enabling them to focus exclusively on their craft under the mentorship of some of India’s leading writers.

This flagship scheme, implemented by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the National Book Trust (NBT) and supported by the University Grants Commission (UGC), aims to create a new generation of Indian authors capable of representing the country on both national and international literary platforms.

A Transformational Opportunity for Aspiring Writers

PM-YUVA 3.0 is open to young citizens of India under the age of 30 who have a flair for writing and a passion for history, knowledge, and storytelling. The scheme offers more than just financial support — it provides a structured, professional mentorship experience where selected participants will:

  • Receive a scholarship of ₹50,000 per month for a period of six months (totaling ₹3 lakh)
  • Be mentored by renowned and established authors
  • Get their manuscripts published by the National Book Trust, India
  • Be given a national platform to showcase their work at literary festivals, book fairs, and NBT events

This mentorship is not limited to language or genre and encourages creative expression in multiple Indian languages.

Themes to Inspire a Generation of Writers

To align the writing with the nation’s cultural and intellectual goals, the PM-YUVA 3.0 scheme has laid out three key themes for participants to base their work on:

  1. Contribution of Indian Diaspora in Nation Building
Highlighting how Indians living abroad have played a vital role in supporting and shaping the development of modern India.

  2. Indian Knowledge System
Exploring the deep roots of India’s intellectual heritage — from ancient texts, traditions, and philosophies to contemporary thought.

  3. Makers of Modern India (1950–2025)
Chronicling the lives and legacies of individuals and movements that have shaped post-independence India into the republic it is today.

Participants are expected to submit detailed proposals or samples of their work centered around one of these themes during the application process.

Application Process and Deadline

Eligible and interested candidates must submit their applications online through the official PM-YUVA portal:

The last date to apply is June 10, 2025. Applicants must ensure that their submissions reflect originality, relevance to the theme, and clarity of expression.

Call to Higher Education Institutions

The University Grants Commission (UGC) has urged all universities, colleges, and other higher education institutions across India to disseminate information about the PM-YUVA 3.0 Mentorship Scheme among students and relevant stakeholders. This initiative provides an unparalleled opportunity for young minds to contribute to India's literary and cultural documentation and should be widely promoted across academic circles.

Building India’s Literary Future

PM-YUVA 3.0 is not just a mentorship programme — it is a movement to rekindle India’s rich literary traditions by investing in its youth. Through structured support, mentorship, and publishing opportunities, the scheme envisions a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive literary future for India. It also aligns with the National Education Policy 2020, which emphasizes creativity, cultural awareness, and the development of critical thinking.

This is a golden chance for aspiring authors to get discovered, mentored, and published — while contributing meaningfully to India's knowledge economy and historical documentation.
