🏛️ Department of Legal Affairs Internship 2025: Applications Open for August-September Batch
Opportunity to Intern with the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India
New Delhi, June 5, 2025 – The Department of Legal Affairs (DOLA), under the Ministry of Law and Justice, Government of India, has opened applications for its prestigious Internship Programme for the upcoming August-September 2025 batch. The initiative aims to provide hands-on training and exposure to young law students and recent graduates in diverse areas of legal practice and governance.
🏛️ About the Department of Legal Affairs
The Department of Legal Affairs was established in 1961 and functions under the Ministry of Law and Justice. It provides legal advice to various ministries/departments and handles litigation on behalf of the government.
🎯 Objective of the Internship
The internship programme is designed to familiarize law students and graduates with the department's key functions such as:
- Legal research and referencing
- Constitutional and administrative law
- Infrastructure and finance law
- Arbitration, contract law, and labour law
- Court functioning and legal advisory work
✅ Eligibility Criteria
- Students who have completed 2nd year of a 3-year law degree, or 3rd year of a 5-year integrated law course
- Law graduates from any recognized university/law school
- Preference for candidates with advanced computer skills (MS Office, infographics, Adobe, etc.)
📆 Duration of Internship
- One-month duration, starting from the first working day of each month
- This is a full-time, in-office internship programme
📍 Location of Deployment
Selected interns may be deployed at:
- Main Secretariat, New Delhi
- Supreme Court (Central Agency Section)
- Delhi High Court (Litigation Section)
- Branch Secretariats: Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bengaluru
📝 How to Apply
- Fill the online application form at: https://legalaffairs.gov.in/internship
- Upload required documents (including No Objection Certificate if still studying)
- Graduates need not submit a NoC but must upload their final year certificate
- Last Date to Apply: 11th June 2025 (5:00 PM)
🔍 Selection Process
- 50 candidates selected per month
- Shortlisted applicants will be informed via email or the internship portal
📑 Post-Internship Requirements
- Submit a monthly report and completed research assignments
- Obtain 90% attendance and satisfactory feedback from the assigned officer to qualify for the Internship Certificate
🎓 Internship Certificate & Honorarium
- On successful completion, interns will receive a Certificate of Internship
- An honorarium of ₹1000 will be granted upon completion
⚠️ Important Terms & Conditions
- No accommodation or travel support from the Department
- Interns must wear formal attire: black trousers and white shirt
- Maintain confidentiality and sign an NDA
- Internship does not guarantee employment
- Library access for referencing only
- Internship can be terminated at any time without explanation
