About the Programme

The project titled “Enhancing Access to Justice for Undertrial Prisoners” aims to provide legal assistance, bail support, documentation, and legal awareness to undertrial prisoners at Sabarmati Central Jail, Ahmedabad.

The programme also focuses on coordination between:

• District Legal Services Authority
• Prison authorities
• Defence counsel
• Probation officers
• Legal aid teams

The main objective is to speed up bail applications and improve access to justice for undertrial prisoners.

Positions Available

1. Project Manager

• Law Degree (LL.B./LL.M.)
• Minimum 4 years’ legal practice
• Eligible to appear before courts
• Working knowledge of Gujarati
• Computer knowledge
• Experience in legal aid / prison reform projects preferred

Salary: ₹80,000 per month
Posts: 1

2. Project Fellow (Legal)

• Law Degree (LL.B./LL.M.)
• Minimum 2 years’ legal practice
• Eligible to appear before courts
• Working knowledge of Gujarati
• Computer knowledge
• Experience in legal aid / prison reform projects preferred

Responsibilities include:

• Drafting and filing bail petitions
• Appearing before courts including Gujarat High Court
• Legal documentation and case records
• Legal assistance for undertrial prisoners

Salary: ₹40,000 per month
Posts: 3

3. Project Fellow (Social Work)

• Postgraduate Degree in Social Work or allied discipline
• Minimum 2 years’ experience with NGOs / prison reform / social justice work
• Working knowledge of Gujarati
• Computer knowledge

Salary: ₹40,000 per month
Posts: 2

Duration

Initial appointment will be for 11 months, extendable based on performance and funding.
