Students protesting against the alleged paper leak outside of City Modern Academy at Lucknow. |
Prayagraj/Lucknow, June 13, 2025 — In a shocking development on the last day of the Post Graduate Admission Test (PGAT) conducted by the University of Allahabad, allegations of a paper leak in the LLB and LLM entrance examinations have surfaced from the Modern City Academy exam centre in Lucknow.
A video that is rapidly circulating among student groups shows agitated candidates raising slogans against alleged malpractice, demanding immediate intervention and cancellation of the compromised paper. Students were heard chanting, “Paper leak band karo!” and “Nyay chahiye!” outside the exam centre.
This year, the LLM and LLB entrance test marks the final leg of the PGAT 2025, which also included earlier exams like PGAT-II and the Institute of Professional Studies (IPS) entrance. As per official data from June 12 (see image), 12.33% of registered candidates skipped the PGAT exams, which were held across 40 centres including key cities like Prayagraj and Lucknow.
Allegations of Negligence at Exam Centre
Students appearing for the test at the Modern City Academy alleged that:
- No invigilation team from Allahabad University was present at the Lucknow centre.
- Security and exam operations were entirely managed by the local centre staff.
- This lack of oversight potentially enabled organized malpractice and the alleged leak.
Candidates who had invested months in preparation expressed their dismay. “We studied hard, trusted the university system, and now feel betrayed,” said a student who appeared for the LLM entrance exam.
About the Exam
- The LLM programme at Allahabad University, CMP College, and ADC offers around 230 seats.
- The LLB programme has approximately 900 seats across the university and its affiliated colleges.
- Both exams are conducted under PGAT, which was held in a hybrid offline mode this year with over 12,287 registrations, as per AU sources.
Students Demand Probe, University Yet to Respond
There has been no official statement yet from the Allahabad University Administration, but pressure is mounting. Student organizations are demanding a transparent probe and immediate re-examination of affected centres, especially at Lucknow.
Educationists and law aspirants alike await a firm response from the university, particularly given that the PGAT results are expected by the end of June, and admission processes will begin in July.
Yesterday’s PGAT Data Snapshot
- 12.33% candidates absent
- Exams conducted across 40 centres
- 5,889 candidates appeared, out of 6,398 registered on June 12
- Highest absenteeism observed in IPS and PGAT-II streams
Don’t Panic: Official Confirmation Awaited
Students and aspirants are strongly advised not to panic. As of now, the allegations are based solely on statements made by students at the Lucknow centre. The Allahabad University Administration is yet to issue any official response or clarification regarding the alleged Paper Leak.
The aspirants at the examination centre reported that several students were found carrying guides and mobile phones inside the examination hall, which led to unrest and chaos among the candidates.
