🏛️ About FSSAI
The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is a statutory body established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, functioning under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. As the apex regulatory body, FSSAI is responsible for laying down science-based standards for food items and regulating their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale, and import to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption.
With the growing importance of food laws and regulations, FSSAI plays a crucial role in maintaining public health and safety through its multifaceted operations.
🎓 About the Internship Programme 2025
In the third year of its successful implementation, the FSSAI Internship Scheme returns in 2025 to provide students a unique and enriching opportunity to gain practical knowledge and experience in food safety regulation and administration.
This initiative aims to foster industry-academia collaboration, providing a platform for young legal minds to understand the scope and responsibilities of the authority in ensuring food safety in India.
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Only candidates currently pursuing a full-time Graduate/Post Graduate/Higher Degree in Law from a recognized institute in India or abroad are eligible to apply. This eligibility applies exclusively for internship positions at FSSAI Headquarters (New Delhi).
Students from other streams (e.g., Food Science, Nutrition, Public Health) may apply for other divisions and internships as per FSSAI notifications.
📍 Location and Facilities
- Address: 3rd & 4th Floor, FDA Bhawan, Kotla Road, near Bal Bhawan, New Delhi – 110002
- Facilities: Working space and internet access will be provided
- Note: Interns must carry their own laptops. No lodging or travel allowance will be provided.
📅 Duration of Internship
- Minimum Duration: 2 months
- Maximum Duration: 6 months
- Internships will be offered throughout the year based on availability.
The internship can be extended depending on the intern’s performance and division requirements. No internships will be granted for less than 2 months.
💼 Work and Assignments
Selected interns will be attached to relevant Divisions at FSSAI HQ, Regional Offices, or Laboratories, based on their academic background and field of specialization. Projects will relate to various aspects of food safety regulation, legal compliance, and nutritional standards.
💸 Stipend & Performance Assessment
- Stipend Amount: ₹10,000/- (for the entire duration)
- Granted to deserving interns based on:
- Attendance
- Supervisor’s assessment
- Quality of final report and presentation
Final decisions will be made by a dedicated Project Evaluation Committee.
📜 Internship Certificate
Upon successful completion of the internship, all interns will receive an official certificate from the Human Resource Division, FSSAI, provided they:
- Submit the final report,
- Complete project presentation,
- Receive a positive review from the Evaluation Committee.
