Overview
The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT), functioning under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, has released a vacancy circular for the post of Joint Registrar at its Chennai Bench.
The appointment will be made on deputation basis from eligible officers serving in Central/State Governments, Union Territories, Courts, Tribunals, or Statutory/Quasi-Judicial bodies.

🎓 Qualifications & Eligibility Criteria
Officers of the Central or State Government / Union Territories / Courts / Tribunals / Statutory or Autonomous Bodies / Higher Judicial Service are eligible to apply, provided they satisfy the following:
(a) Service Requirement
- (i) Holding an analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department;
OR - (ii) Holding a post in Level-12 in the Pay Matrix (₹78,800 – ₹2,09,200) with five years’ regular service in that grade;
OR - (iii) Holding a post in Level-11 in the Pay Matrix (₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700) with ten years’ regular service in that grade in the Central Pay Commission scale.
(b) Educational Qualification
- Degree in Law from a recognized University or equivalent institution — mandatory.
(c) Experience
- Minimum five years’ experience in handling legal, judicial, or quasi-judicial matters, or administrative affairs in a tribunal, court, or government organization.
📆 Tenure & Age Limit
- The period of deputation including time spent in another ex-cadre post shall not exceed five years.
- The maximum age limit for appointment on deputation shall not exceed 56 years as on the closing date for receipt of applications.
- Deputation is governed by the DoPT rules and 7th CPC pay structure.
- Service rendered on a regular basis before 1 January 2016 shall also count towards qualifying service for pay fixation under the 7th CPC.
📄 Important Notes
- The appointment will be on deputation basis only — there is no provision for direct recruitment.
- Officers applying should ensure their vigilance clearance, APARs for the last five years, and No Objection Certificate (NOC) are forwarded along with their application.
