About the Internship

The Shipping Corporation of India Ltd. has invited applications for its Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2026. The internship will be conducted at the Head Office in Mumbai and the Branch Office in Kolkata.

This programme is designed for students who are pursuing professional degrees and require mandatory internship training as part of their academic curriculum. Through the internship, students will gain practical exposure to the functioning of India’s largest shipping company and understand real-world aspects of the maritime and logistics industry.

Courses Eligible for Internship

Students currently pursuing the following courses may apply:

Management

• MBA / Postgraduate Degree in Management (preferably in):
  • Human Resources
  • Marketing
  • Finance
  • Logistics
  • International Business
  • Operations
  • Supply Chain Management
  • Port & Shipping Management
  • Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG)
  • Business Analytics
  • General Management

Law

• Graduate Degree or Postgraduate Degree in Law

Engineering

• Graduate or Postgraduate Degree in relevant Engineering branches, preferably:
  • Marine Engineering
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Information Technology
  • Civil Engineering

Other Eligibility Requirements

Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:

• The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
• The candidate should be pursuing Graduate or Postgraduate studies from a recognized university or institution in India.
• The Summer Internship Programme must be a mandatory part of the candidate’s academic curriculum.
• Candidates must submit a letter from their university or institution confirming that the internship is mandatory.
• Applicants must have minimum 60% marks in the semester or year completed prior to the internship.
• In case of grade-based evaluation, candidates must submit a conversion certificate from the university showing equivalent percentage.

Internship Duration

The Summer Internship Programme (SIP) will be conducted for two months between May 2026 and July 2026.

The exact dates of the internship will depend on the academic internship schedule of the candidate’s institution, subject to the maximum duration of two months.

Internship Location

Selected candidates will be placed at:

• Shipping House, Mumbai
• Shipping House, Kolkata

Some candidates selected for Mumbai may also be posted at the Maritime Training Institute Powai, which operates under SCI Land and Assets Management (SCILAL).

Stipend

• No stipend will be provided during the internship period.

Medical Benefits

• Interns will not be eligible for any medical benefits from the company.

Accommodation

• No accommodation will be provided to interns.

Transportation

• No travel or transportation reimbursement will be provided for interviews or the internship.

Additional Requirement

Selected interns must carry their own laptop during the internship period.

Selection Process

The selection process will include:

1. Personal Interview
   • Interviews may be conducted in physical or online mode.
2. Interview dates will be communicated later, and candidates are advised to regularly check the SCI website for updates.

Documents Required During Interview

Candidates must submit the following documents during the interview:

• Academic mark sheets of relevant semesters/years
• Bonafide certificate from the university or institution
• Letter confirming that the internship is a mandatory requirement of the course

The final list of selected candidates will be published on the SCI website, and selected candidates will also be informed through email.
