New Delhi, May 11, 2025 — The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has opened applications for its Summer Internship Programme (SIP) 2025, offering a unique opportunity for students from across the country to engage with pressing human rights issues while gaining professional experience.
The internship will run from 16th June to 11th July 2025 and will be hosted at the NHRC headquarters in New Delhi.
Attractive Benefits: Rs 12,000 Stipend + Rs 28,000 in Awards
Selected interns will receive a stipend of Rs 12,000 for the one-month programme. Additionally, the NHRC has announced performance-based awards totaling Rs 28,000:
- Rs 15,000 for 1st prize in the Group Research Project
- Rs 10,000 for 2nd prize
- Rs 5,000 for 3rd prize
Top performers in the Book Review and Declamation Contest will receive books worth up to Rs 1,000 each.
Outstation candidates will also be reimbursed second-class train fare to and from New Delhi.
Eligibility and Disciplines
Students eligible to apply include:
- LLB (3-year): Completed 1st year and pursuing 2nd or 3rd year
- BA LLB (5-year): Completed 3 years or Semester VI and pursuing 4th or 5th year
- PG and final-year students in:
- Human Rights
- Political Science, Sociology, Social Work, Criminology
- Public Administration, Rural Development
- Economics, Commerce, History, Anthropology
- Mass Communication, International Relations, and other Social Sciences
Internship Highlights

- Over 70 sessions on human rights topics
- Interaction with NHRC Chairperson and Members
- Research Projects, Book Reviews, Film Screenings
- Field Visits to institutions like Police Stations, Jails, NGOs, Parliament, Supreme Court, and various National Commissions
